Plot in short Story

INTRODUCTION

Background of the Problem
            A story (or "short story") is a narrative that essentially focuses on one plot and a few characters. Plot in short story is important because plot is basic form of the story. From plot, the reader can follow the sequence of events in a story that can make the reader’s interest to the story. Therefore, plot is an important part in a story.
            Plot is very important to connect the events in the story in order to be chronological events. Without plot, a story uncompleted, it makes the readers will feel difficult to follow the sequence events of the story. It can be solved by the function of the title.
The main function of the plot is to make the readers’ interest to read the story, and make the reader easy to understand about the sequence events that happened in the story in order to they cannot feel confused. To make the readers’ interest and easy understand about the story is not easy. The plot should have some elements to reach this function.

                A plot can said to be a good plot if it has completed some elements. These elements are introduction, conflict, climax, falling action, and resolution. By these elements, the plot can be the good plot and could reach the readers’ interest.Therefore, after know the elements we should try to create it. Some steps can be used in creating plot. These steps are beginning, middle and end. These steps will help you to come up with a good plot for your creation.
            Overall, the plot is an important part of a story. It reflects the content of that creation or work. To get the readers’ interest, plot should have some elements to be a good plot. The writer can come up with a good plot by practicing in creating a story with the steps above.
THEORY OF PLOT

The Definition of Short Story
            Short Story is a short work of fiction. Fiction, as you know, is prose writing about imagined events and characters. It means that short story tells about imagined events and characters which made to arouse the reader’s interest to the story.
Next, short story is an invented story, which is no more than 10,000 words in length. It means that short story tend to be solid and straight to the goal.
Other source also said that short story is a short narrative that encapsulates generally a few major themes. It is not a novel, which is a long narrative, full of characters, ideas, themes, and plots. This statement means that short story just focuses on one plot and a few characters.
The Definition of Plot
Plot is a series of events and character actions that relate to the central conflict. It means that plot is important in a story, in other hand plot can called like the heart of a story.
Next, plot is an element of fiction that consists of the stages of action leading up to the climax of the story. It means that the conflict moves the story because it is generating center out of which the plot grows.
Other source said, plot is the sequence of incident or events, which the story is composed and it may conclude what character says, or thinks, as well as what he does, but it leaves out description and analysis and concentrate ordinarily on major happening.
The Importance and the Function of Plot
         It is important to identify the sequence events of the story. It helps to connect the events in the story in order to be chronological events. Therefore, the readers can easy understanding about the story.
          Besides, plot also has a function. This function is to make the readers’ interest to read the story, and make the reader easy understanding to follow the sequence events that happened in the story in order to they cannot feel confused.

Kinds of Plot
         Plot is the basic form of a story. Plot divided into three parts. They are the beginning, which consists of the exposition on introduction, the middle that consists of conflict, and climax and the end, which converses anti climax, and resolution.
Elements of Plot
Plot should have some elements to be a good plot to get the readers’ interest. There are some elements of a good plot:
1.    Introduction
The beginning of the story where the characters and the sitting is revealed or showed.
2.    Conflict
A character versus the internal self or an external something or someone. It means that internal is a struggle within one's self; a person must make some decision, overcome pain, quiet their temper, resist an urge, etc. While external is a struggle with a force outside one's self.
3.    Climax
The climax in a story happens when the rising action of the story reaches the peak.
4.    Falling Action
Following the climax, the story begins to slowly wind down. Falling action, one of the two final story elements, shows the result of the actions or decisions the character has made.
5.    Resolution
The conclusion of the story. Here, the conflicts are resolved, all loose ends are tied up, and the story concludes with either a happy or a sad ending.
